Stokeinteignhead's Residents Association

The Big Tidy Up took place on Saturday 24th April.
The areas targeted were the main green, the stream behind Bramble Bend and along the bottom of the green, the lane and part of the blocked bridal path at the back of Pools Weir and the part of Stoke road adjacent to the green.
Several people from around the green took part and many more thanked us and offered apologies for not joining in due to prior commitments.

A large amount of debris was collected and the Teignbridge man who came to pick it up had to fetch a larger vehicle as his van was too small. The nature of the rubbish collected was mainly garden waste and large items which have been in situ for some considerable time. No children's toys were picked up which means that they are better at tidying up after themselves than us adults!
There was only one casualty, Di Setter who sustained a small cut from a piece of wire netting! All were fortified by iced lollies at the end of the afternoon.

Since then the grass has been cut which revealed more hidden litter which has now also been picked up.
The children have cleared the football area of grass clippings and used them to form a wall around the pitch.
Teignbridge has now agreed to cut the grass on the flat playing area once a month through the summer and continue to cut the rest of the area three times a year.
Everyone seems pleased with the outcome and the green is now a pleasure to use.
